Some of the configurations of the rectangular and square-shaped craft are somewhat obscure.

These craft appears as a relative newcomer in the field of ufology mostly having reportedly been witnessed in the last 10 years or so.

One or two salient features are apparent however . The first one being the dimensions. These craft have repeatedly been reported by independent witnesses as being absolutely huge.

Therefore, we can only guess at their size which may range from the size of a family car to possibly many hundreds of feet in length. Frequently they have been seen at treetop height, and traveling at extremely slow speed.

Their colours have mostly been described as gray, gray-metallic or black. Another prominent feature of the larger variety of these craft are the lights. These have been described as "running lights" around the perimeter, or as looking as though wrapped in Christmas lights.

The colours of these lights have been noted in white, orange, red and green and often dazzle the viewer, making the craft outline hard to discern.

One description that has been made on several occasions by viewers of these craft is that they resemble a giant flying platform. For craft of this size, their agility seems awesome. There are many reports of these vehicles traveling at low altitudes, and extremely slowly.

However, they have been seen to execute right angle turns on a dime, and when tilted upwards, have been seen to disappear in the blink of an eye.

New photos from an online webcam!

The unusual image recorded on a Washington, D.C., webcam in the early morning hours of Feb. 10 has sparked interest in the United States and around the world.

The photo from a National Park Service webcam in Washington, D.C., was sent out over the web between approximately 3:15 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. EST, Feb 10, 2005. Images are from www.

However what is seen may be a helicopter! strange as it seems these web cams are time delayed. So a craft moving in this time delay gets elongated ,hence the image we see.

Well that's the theory anyway, but it is strange that this is a air restricted area ,so what was a helicopter doing there?

Report 1

Report By E Gourlay Eyewitness At approximately 7.10 p.m. on the 17th August 1997 (the full moon was on the 18th)

We were driving north from Bororan to Boyne Island in Central Queensland on a two lane highway. Depending on conditions, the journey normally takes between thirty to forty minutes. It was a bright, calm cloudless night, being almost full moon.

We were in the area of an old station called Inveragh, about forty two kilometers south of Gladstone. Heather was driving, her two year old son was in the back seat and I was star gazing at a large star/planet which stood out brightly in the north west sky. I was just about to comment on it when something above and to the left hand side of the windscreen blocked my view.

My first thought was a low flying plane. A couple of seconds later it was obviously like no other aircraft we had ever seen or heard of.

This craft was flying at a fairly slow and steady pace. It was silent and not very far above tree top height as far as we could tell. What I saw were two long horizontal rows of closely spaced, large round multicolored lights with two shorter vertical rows of round multicolored lights at each end, effectively forming a huge rectangle.

The vertical rows seemed to extend a little beyond the horizontal, giving the impression of cut off corners on the outside of the structure. The lights were steady, not flashing as in a normal aircraft. As it flew from west to east over the top of the car we were able to look up into the center of the rectangle but it was impossible to identify anything within, owing to the dazzle of the surrounding lights.

We both had the impression of a somewhat concave interior with gray/black shadowy shapes. In the clear moonlight we could see no wings or similar structure beyond that which the lights were attached to.

What may have been above all this, we couldn't even hazard a guess. While Heather was looking for a place to pull over, I looked back and all I could see was one large bright white light skimming the tree tops and vanishing down out of sight. Heather's recollection is basically the same regarding the lights, huge size and shape of the craft and area sighting.

She cannot recall seeing the whole craft at any one time and I am of the same opinion - except for a half remembered image of the craft at a higher altitude as it went to the east (right) and behind us. The fact that Heather was driving and looking for a place to pull over would have had that effect. She recalls seeing structure on which the lights were fixed and I seem to remember the lights following the contours of the craft.

Heather tells me she couldn't pull over suddenly because she thought there was a car following behind. When we parked, no car passed us. The size of craft and lights, along with the number of lights is very difficult to determine owing to the element of surprise and I suppose, the very awe of it all. Trying to compare sizes to known things and remembering the time it took for the craft to fly over the car, we have come up with the following estimation but we would not be prepared to swear to actual size in a court of law!

The craft would have been in the region of 250-300 feet in length, (we have not even considered the width!) There could have been anywhere from sixty to a hundred lights on the underside of it and when I close one eye and try to 'frame a light with my hands I get a diameter of approximately 5 inches at that height. The length of a football field would be a close estimation of size, at one point it totally filled the length of the windscreen. The colours were red, yellow/white, blue and/or green. A pilot friend has plotted the approximate coordinates for me and they are; latitude 24 degrees and 10 minutes south and longitude 151 degrees and 28 minutes east.

The car did not develop any electrical problems and our journey took no longer than normal, allowing for time parked off the road. I phoned the police station later that night to see if anyone else had reported any peculiar craft in the vicinity, but the reply was negative. He took my phone number to pass on to anyone else who happened to phone, but I had no calls on the matter.

Report 2

15. Jan. 27, 1996, 10pm, GIGANTIC UFO SIGHTED IN MEXICO

A gigantic rectangular UFO was seen by hundreds of people the night of January 27, 1996 near Vera Cruz, Mexico. At around 10 p.m., during a thunderstorm, the UFO approached the city's harbor from the northeast. Witnesses said they saw two bright flashes in the night sky before the UFO crossed the beach.

The object might have been taking advantage of the lightning bolts, using their electromagnetic pulse to duck the NORAD and Mexican radar systems.

One eyewitness who saw the huge object was Pedro Alaniz, a cropdusting pilot from Texas who has 20/20 vision. Alaniz was driving a semi on Camino (Highway) 180, heading south to Alvarado, when he saw the UFO. He said the object was flying from the northeast to the southwest at a speed of 200 miles per hour. He estimated that its altitude was 600 feet.

Alaniz gave a very detailed description of the UFO, reporting that the object's front end was as flat and square as a box. The UFO was approximately 100 yards long, with bright white lights along the underside running from the front to the stern. The tail took up about one-third of the whole object and had five finger-like projections jutting out from it. A pale blue light was on the left side of the object near the tail.

Dozens of Mexicans saw the UFO as it flew toward Cosamaloapan. It was reportedly videotaped by several witnesses. There are two sites in the area that may have interested the UFO's crew. The Mexican Air Force has an air station at Minatitlan, 118 miles south of Alvarado. Also, there are mysterious pre-Toltec ruins at Zempoala 20 miles north of Vera Cruz.

Report 3

New York Rectangle-Shaped UFO BETHPAGE, LONG ISLAND -

Pat noticed a large bright craft fly past his bathroom window at 300 feet on May 26, 2000. I spoke with Pat who said it looked like a Chinese lantern squashed down.

He called his wife and they went outside to see the slow moving craft at 9:30 PM. It was the size of watermelon at arm's length indicating it must have been a very large craft. A small lightning bolt or waves of electricity seemed to coming out of the bottom right hand corner of the craft from a darkish striker like plate. It appeared to be sucking electricity from huge power lines near by.

There was no sound from the craft has it flew over head in the clear sky. It seemed to flying on its side and looked like a postage stamp with rounded corners. Bethpage is located about twenty miles east of Kennedy Airport, so aircraft are frequently observed in this area approaching or leaving the airport.

Pat assured me this was no plane or blimp. He had served in the Air Force and knew aircraft. He tried to follow the craft in his car but lost it. He felt it could not have been anything built on Earth. It was last seen heading east flying over the local police station and above large power lines.

The craft was pure white like the moon moving at about 5 to 10 mph.

Thanks to Kenny Young for the above report.

Report 4

There was one silver metallic craft with small lights, no sound, no windows, no red or green lights, and no blinking light. There was only one craft.

The craft was silver metallic in some areas and dark gray metallic in other areas. There was no center light on the bottom. There were small lights on the bottom and on one row in the side of the craft. The lights changed color in intensity and in hue, but not dramatically. There were no green lights and there were no red lights.

The craft was a perfect square as seen directly from the bottom. The craft was a flattened diamond shape as seen from the side. The craft clearly had three or four levels on the bottom and on the top, each section smaller than the larger primary section which formed the main body of the craft. There was absolutely no sound. There was a feeling of static electricity in the air close to the craft. The craft came upon us fast. Then it hovered over our heads, about thirty feet away.

Then it slowly moved away, returning in the same direction that it had come. The craft appeared to be about 50 feet X 50 feet square, each side being about 50 feet long. The craft appeared to be about 25 feet from the bottom tip to the top tip. If it had windows, we did not see them.
